Doug Folkerson is not a boy you would want to deal with. He smiles in your face and gleams like a two horned red eyed devil when it comes to taking money. I rented from him for 2yrs. The house was nice, but he is a mean guy. He does not answer phone calls. Our rent went up $25/yr. So we decided to move when he said it would be $775. I read the reviews before hand. But sometimes you just need to see for yourself. Wellll, buyer beware! Our neighbors told us that no one ever gets their deposit back. The neigbor on the street is an old lady who have seen tenants come and go. Our rent began low and it increased $25/yr during the 3yrs we rented from Folkerson. We should have realized something was wrong when their only means of contact is calling you from an unavailable, private number or you contacting them through email. The wife and I are disabled vets and receive VA every month. Towards the end of our lease there was a delay in pay and we notified Folkerson of the problem and we'd send the payment and late fee as soon as possible. A couple of days later we received a noticed of the rent plus late fee and also a notice to vacate in a week!!! WTF. A late paymeny fee is addressed on the lease but not evicted. How are two disabled folks going to move 15000lbs of furniture in a week and find a place? And they have the nerve to charge a full mon... read more
I ignore all the bad reviews this company had and decided if still rent from a property from them. Worst mistake I ever done. Please learn from my mistake and avoid renting from Mr. Folkerson at all cost. He does not return calls or emails and no matter how clean the house is during your final inspection, he will not give return your deposit. I lived in one of their properties for only a year (that was plenty long enough). The company is actually run by one person and he (Doug Folkerson) does all the work calls. When you call you only get his phone service that is based out of New York. Whenever you call the service e-mails Doug and maybe he will respond. If you e-mail him yourself one out of 10 he will respond back to. I had a pipe blow because the dishwasher was so old and it took almost 3 hours to get a response from any one. At the inspection, the house was absolutely wrecked. Carpets were filthy, holes in doors and walls, closet doors torn down. At move in, the problems had been 'fixed'. For example, a hole in the door was repaired by caulking a mirror over it crookedly. About 2 months in, a former tenant came by and said they'd been charges $500 to replace hedges, and the hedges clearly hadn't been replaced, and the lawn had been completely dead when we moved in.
