Stay Away From These Guys This dealer has no shame. When they finished ripping me off, I was sadder and wiser. My car was filthy inside from the work that was done. Unnecessary work was performed. I would NEVER buy a car from them, and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. As a matter of fact, I share my rip-off story with other VW drivers, just in case they haven't gotten the word. Interestingly, most people in the area seem to agree. One Star is too high a rating for them. They deserve to be starless.

Nice Front guys, but a money pit every visit The check in guys are super friendly and know me by now. My 2003 VW Passat has 105M miles and I have spent a lot of time and $ there. They won't dare let you get out of there without spending money. They charge $80+ to "check out" any problem. Then they'll drain you. I like the check in guys alot - I just decline their initial front to back checkup so they don't look for problems. My Check-Engine light is always on. If I go get them to turn it off, it costs $80+, and then it comes... read more

Worst service experience EVER... wish I could give them zero stars Like many others have said, we have felt obligated to use SSVW for service many times because it is the only convenient dealer nearby. That said, we have NEVER had a positive experience in the service department there. We always leave feeling as though we've been ripped off. We've often been misinformed. We've often experienced poor customer service and poorly estimated time frames, etc. Last year, my husband spent $600 on a new "oxygen sensor" after his car ... read more

Great to purcahse, bad for service The service at this place is hooooorible. I used to have a Beetle, that had to be serviced at this location. Everytime I went it was a hassle, and an extreamly lengthy one. i actually avoided purchasing a new volswagen just to avoid having service done by southern states.

stuck in durham My wife and I were on an east coast trip in May of 2012 when I left my lights on over night killed the battery and had to get the security code reboot to start the car. This happened on a Saturday afternoon as we were getting ready to leave for an hour and a half ride to our next visit. Bill Rate and Andrew Biesemeir, service advisors, got us in and out in about an hour. Friendly and prompt service. Thanks again from a Wisconsin TDI owner.

Go somewhere else for purchasing and repair Before buying a volkswagen - google: "chain driven oil pump and tensioners defect in VW Passat" to read about the repairs that you can look forward to with this type of car. My last "visit" to this VW dealer for repair was $2000 and 30 days.

Worst Service Ever! Avoid at all COSTS! And it WILL cost you! If I must give this dealership a star, then I must, but they have never treated me with any respect as a customer nor have they ever actually fixed my car. In one instance, their incompetent work almost caused a potentially fatal accident and then they argued with me -- first by accusing me of sabotaging my own vehicle and then about fair compensation when they realized they had in fact neglected to tighten the lug nuts on my tires, which caused it to almost fall ... read more

worst service department ever!! had problems with new touareg v8 from day one. they were unable to fix it. they did not keep any of their promises nor appointments. i had to rent car on own expenses because my car always had to stay in longer than what they said it would take them. even an oil exchange takes them a full day or two. this service department is a reason not to buy a VW in this area!

Great People Southern States has some awesome people there. All of there Techs are seasoned and definitely know what they are doing. Sam the service manager is a nice guy and helped me with two recalls I had on my 07 Jetta. The car is great and is by far the most fun to drive car I have ever owned!.. When I bought they were patient with me as I tried to figure out actually how to go about buying a new car. I was impressed by the knowledge I was given. A salesperson at another dealer must have been new but he didn't really an... read more
