A former US Navy debarkation point built in 1942, Fleet Landing lay vacant after World War II. Located on the eastern waterfront side of the Historic District, the 6000 square-foot (557 square-meter) concrete building was purchased by Tradd Newton in 2004. He opened this one-story, nautical-themed restaurant with Chef Drew Hedlund, whose menu includes classic and contemporary Southern fare, with an emphasis on seafood. Was only there for a short time & for only one reason. Was in Charleston for a few days and all I heard was that I had to try The Shrimp n Grits. Well, of all the places that were recommended to me Fleet Landing was cheapest & also it was convenient to where I was. I sat at the Bar which had 2 sides, one that was inside the Main Restaurant & the other side which was on the outside. Fleet Landing was delicious. I had the fried shrimp. Always a favorite and the views can't be beat!

We had a 30-45 minute wait and it was worth every minute we waited! My husband and I got the low country boil and it was so good. Enough food for both of us.
