About this business
An old bank building in University City that was converted several years ago into a combination root beer brewery and family restaurant, Fitz's draws an enthusiastic crowd of college students, adults and children. Diners can watch the root beer making and bottling processes through a large glass partition, all the while enjoying good pub food such as hamburgers, pizzas, etc. The root beer, a revered St. Louis formula that dates back to an old roadside stand from the 1940s, is terrific, too.

The best in American food This is one of my favorite St. Louis restaurants. Besides making all of their own root beer and other sodas, as you can watch through a window in the dining room, they have great food. Huge burgers, pizzas, fries and other American food done a million times better than any fast food or chain place could do it. Great Soda Hands down the most appealing part to Fitz's is the soda. They have grea Rootbeer and if you love Rootbeer Floats, Fitz's are the best. My personal favorite is their Ginger Ale which has a bit of a kick. The food is decent for a decent price and the atmosphere is good for just hanging out with friends.
fitz's this is a great place to go with friends for a good priced meal. The food is pretty good, burgers and such. however, you have to try out their rootbeer and floats. They're great PROS: price, floats CONS: can get busy/loud at times
Famous for rootbeer This has always been regarded as a St. Louis staple, when it comes to establishments. Personally, all I liked was the Fitz's rootbear. They are supposed to be famous for their hamburgers. I wasn't impressed, and am not a fan.
Great Rootbeer, Good Food I liked the rootbeer and for about $2.00 you can get a bottomless cup and try any flavor you want. The food was alright not the best but good for the price. Forget the food, just get rootbeer!!!
Fitz's Soda Bar & Grill Great food and a really fun place to hang out. On my last visit, we sat on the patio and people-watched along with eating. Kids really enjoy the cream sodas.
Pretty good food This place is pretty good. It's very loud there if you like that sort of thing. Service was ok. The food was good. The best thing is that they make their own rootbeer right there in the restaurant. The kids love to watch it being made. It tastes' great too. They make all kinds of flavors of soda.
It was fun to watch them bottle soda. Waitress was fantastic. Food was very good. Just a nice experience.
mixed feelings – When we first moved to St. Louis friends told us about the Loop and Fitz's. I think it is an interesting atmosphere. We have been there several times now. Service is good, not amazing but good enough. Our friend usually asks to substitute fries with a vegetable weird enough once we were told this is not possible.
