Unique Spot Firefly has a unique atmosphere, good service, and good food. It also has an amazing hard cider that I haven't been able to find elsewhere called Original Sin.
A different place - nice atmosphere and good food The place takes it;s name to heart.....and the decor is very unusual. But unlike a place that just tried to live on beign different physically, this place backs it up with really good food. Feel like you are outside on a gorgeous summer evening, sipping a great wine (or try from their great bar) and enjoying light fare. We like it especially in the dark when all the twinkling lights are on. Don't miss dessert...you will regret it!
Romantic and Calming – I had been hearing about Firefly for a few months before I decided to actually try the restaurant out for myself. The restaurant offers a unique dinning experience as they play on the theme of fireflies with a large tree in the restaurant, dimmed lights, and dinner by candlelight. The food, AMAZING. Everyone at my table tried different entrees ranging from the chicken to the hamburger. There wasn't a bad meal on the menu. My favorite part about the evening? Besides the amazing cocktail from the bar, I ... read more
Cool Ambiance for Casual Dining – Great place for a casual dinner. Menu is a little overpriced and the chef isn't very accommodating to making special requests or alterations to the menu items. The experience is really in the decor -it feels like you're in a backyard tree house. The firefly theme is carried out through the entire meal and your dinner check will arrive in a mason jar just like the kind you used when you caught lightening bugs in elementary school.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Firefly’s name goes with its ambiance. At this Dupont eatery, soft lantern lighting, warm hues and an oak tree sprouting up from the floor make it feel like a gourmet backyard feast. Its urban picnic menu--featuring bacon meatballs and crawfish with sunchoke dip--is ideal for sharing, and side orders of mac and cheese and parmesan truffle fries are also standouts. But Firefly’s real showstopper is the mini pot roast with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, braised baby carrots, and roasted shallot jus--... read more
Cool atmosphere but pricey & okay service – Firefly has a lovely menu and fun atmosphere, and might be just a better happy hour place. Their reservation policy, like many DC restaurants, requires you to put down a credit card. I did this after making a reservation for some out of town guests coming to visit on a Friday evening. Unfortunately their plane was delayed a few hours and when I tried to cancel the reservation that afternoon, they informed me that my credit card would be charged $150. So I then had to round up some ... read more
Fun place for friends or after work – Cool atmosphere, like eating dinner in a high-end tree house. Great place for a romantic evening, or a fun place to take friends or coworkers. Fondu is yummy, main courses are pretty good too. Try the truffle oil french fries to start, they are to die for! Fire Fly has some really unique cocktails as well--the blueberry & champaign one is good for something light. They also had one w/ jalapeno which you might like it if you are a bloody-mary fan--forget what it was called. But whatever e... read more
