Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, starting with the Grilled Spanish Octopus paired with a creamy Santorini fava dip—fresh, bright, and full of Mediterranean flair. Fire & Oak in Jersey City remains one of the more sophisticated spots in the area. The ambiance is perfect--moody, upscale, and consistently chic--making it a great choice for a high-end night out. It was good but overpriced for what it is. While dining, there was also kitchen fire and the place filled with smoke which was very irritating. The server didn’t bring us a dish, apologized that it wasn’t available, then charged us for it. We had to check the bill and get it pulled off. I had to go outside for 5 minutes to clear my eyes from the smoke. Altogether a bad experience but the food wasn’t bad and it seemed like a freak accident so it didn’t actually affect my ratings.
TLDR: Ask for SOPHIA!!! 1. The Highlight: Our server, Sophia, made the night. She was incredibly friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and truly engaging throughout the meal. 2. The Vibe: Sophisticated but welcoming. Perfect for a nice dinner out in JC. 3. The food is delicious, but it’s the staff that makes you want to come back. Ask for Sophia if you want a server who is as engaging and friendly as she is professional. We will definitely be back!
