Not too crazy about Finale's – Maybe it's because I'm not a big fan of sweets, but I didn't think Finale was as great and wonderful as all my friends made it out to be. The price seems ridiculous for such small portions, but then again I can't deny the presentations were very nice and the service was great as well. I didn't like the atmosphere much, I like places where we can dress down and be loud, but Finale is definitely a dress up and speak softly kind of place.
A nice place to end the night. – This is a smart place to end the night if you're out doing something special for someone. I can't really think of anything bad about this place other than the size of the restaurant and indoor temperature. It's a small restaurant; you could see the whole thing in a glance. Unfortunately dissapointed – I really wanted to like Finale. I'm a baker myself, really in to presentation, and had been interested in checking out what they do for some time. My boyfriend and I finally got there while we were waiting for a movie at the Coolidge Corner theater, and we were SO dissapointed! Worth the Wait – I see that Finale has gotten some negative reviews, and I'm sure that's bound to happen with a restaurant this popular and busy, but I've been many times and as someone who grew up in a family that owned a French bakery which produced gourmet pastries and cakes, Finale continues to impress me. Know before you go – Alright, I have been to Finale a few times and I honeslty enjoy it. There are a number of people who will complain about the price and the portions BUT keep in mind, Finale is good for a light dessert after your meal. I am never really hungry when I go. I focus on a good dessert wine and a matching dessert to split with a date, and that works just fine. Be prepared to be overrun – In all fairness, it was a busy night, but my friend and I were eating and drinking plenty, well, until they literally seated other people on top of us. They didn't even ask us to squish over or anything, they pushed our table over, moved my friend in her chair, and then allowed the people to sit on top of us. We weren't done, but we were done. High expectations – A few friends and I went to Finale one Monday evening; there was no wait and we got a lovely table by the window. We were brought our menus promptly and our server answered all of our questions well. However, all three of us were disappointed in the desserts we got. A Lindt truffle contains more flavor – The presentation of the dessert i received seemed tawdry. The cheap plastic box had slapped sticker of the title of the place with its web address advertised on it. The base of the container was a square thick cardboard with gold paper covering the top, making the sides visible. The mousse had a smooth surface and a piece of triangular chocolate stuck through gold paper in the middle of the cake.
