soul food if you are in the mood for soul food and are in the city, you should try farmerbrown. they have the bet cornbread that comes with the meals. and you'll definitely like the cool refreshing flavor of the cucumber water they serve.
High on atmosphere-Low on taste... Great concept and excellent vibe. Music is good and the bar is flowing, but the food lacks in flavor. I love Southern cooking and was not impressed by the several times I've been here. If you're loking for good Southern Cooking, try Southern Cafe in Oakland, but if you're looking for a great place for a drink, good music, and ok food-Farmer Brown's is hard to beat...
chicken Come early, dodge all the druggies outside, grab a seat at the bar and enjoy their wonderful cocktails. Order an appetizer to snack on. Do get the sweet potato fries and a taste of their cornbread. Don't get the catfish... dry.... Do get the fried chicken...... Don't go to Hard Knox if you want think that the friend chicken is the best here. I've had a few good meals here. Horrible parking and area for a restaurant though.
sings to the heart and soul ok, the first thing that was great about Farmer Brown was that it was open late. We were looking for a nice place to eat at around 11PM. In the City you can be hard pressed to find anything other then a slice of pizza or a diner at that hr. The server and bartender didn't seem put out that we came in that late which is always good. When you get your food you are going to be very pleased. Great flavors and true comfort. It's like grandma was back in the kitchen cooking for the family. The place it ... read more
I hadn't been to farmerbrown in a few years, so we decided to have dinner after the tree lighting. I was surprised by how run down and dirty it seemed. The water we were served was room temp tap water, no longer chilled or served with cucumber. The fried chicken was good, as were the steak fries, but the pulled pork was mostly bun and the cajun jambalaya was a very small portion for the price. Very disappointed.
Great Atmosphere , nice art , a rustic cool vibe . Great food!!!
We waited for 40 minutes and no one brought us a menu or water and we finally walked out and won't ever be back. What else can be said - this place sucks.
Good wait staff and quick service.
Beautiful place! Great food and drinks
