I was forced into this facility at 14, and traumatized beyond belief. The staff let other girls try to beat me up over playing cards they thought I had taken. We were never allowed outside. We were forced to stay in our rooms, on lockdown, for months at a time. They would take our mattresses during the day (the only soft place to sit). There was a few staff that I felt comfortable around when i really needed someone to talk too. And they were there, but even then we wasn’t able to talk to them that much because of everyone else that they had tend too.But I somewhat like the place. I wouldn’t recommend it but at the same time I do.

If you see any art on the wall, they don't buy it. They pressure the kids who are artistically inclined to gift them free artwork. They are verbally abusive. They also allow the children to attack each other. My daughter had to get involved in an incident. She was watching intimate partner violence. A resident broke up with her partner, and her partner started beating her. Staff just watch. My daughter was severely injured, and the staff didn't seek any medical treatment afterward. There is a reason they don't let your kid contact home for the first month. It's so that they can train them to take accountability for abuse perpetrated on them. Meanwhile, staff takes no accountability and doesn't tell legal guardians about events until long after the child's wounds are healed.

My daughter is being jumped consistently in there by other patients. They don't do anything. They don't inform the parents. They don't call the police. They don't offer therapeutic activities. They see a therapist once a week and that's it. The rest of their time is largely unstructured. They aren't allowed to regularly reach out to their parents. Probably to hide the neglect.
