I went to Dr Rubin for a second opinion. She was very rushed. Instead of reviewing brand new x-rays I brought, she insisted on taking new x-rays, but then instead of reviewing them with me, she announced she had to go to lunch and I would have to return {for an additional appointment fee}. She also refused to email me my x-rays and would not allow her receptionist to send them to me despite my paying for the appointment and x-rays in advance. She's all about the money. Great overall experience. I've seen 6 dentist for my child's teeth and have felt the most comfortable with Dr. Rubin. I respect her opinion more than any dentist I've ever been to. Would go to see her regularly if I still lived in the states.
Dr. Rubin has been doing my fillings, cleanings and crowns for 7 years. Since my first visit, I have always been really impressed by her skill and her ability to minimize pain in procedures. I have had only good experiences with Dr. Rubin. I feel she truly cares about my dental health and is only aggressive when it comes to optimizing the health of my teeth and gums. She is an activist dentist in that she sees a problem and she sizes it up and discusses options to address it. Dr. Rubin is highly un-professional. She refuses to discuss cost upfront, but will charge you for unintended service triple of what you should have paid. Her staff of 1 - a secretary is very aggressive regarding appointments and will charge $100 for any missed appoint. There is no dental assistant, and the equipment is antiquated. A simple cleaning by Dr. Rubin left me in pain for 4-5 days afterwards !
Dr. Rubin has been my dentist for 17 years. She has done onlays, fillings and crowns. Her treatments have been pain-free, and she seems to take extra care to ensure that the patient is comfortable and as relaxed as possible. The restorations she has done have been expertly crafted and have held up well over time (i.e., nearly two decades). Whenever I have had a dental emergency, Dr. Rubin has been very responsive. I recommend her highly.
In Dr. Rubin I have met my "dentist soulmate". When I first met her she did an amazingly thorough exam and used lo radiation xrays. We reviewed the plan and costs; she drew pictures and showed me models of my mouth issues and their solutions. We had a full discussion of pros and cons. Dr. Rubin has done cleanings, fillings, crowns and bridges for me for many years. She is a reliable, pain free dentist and I've never had any complications. She runs her office very efficiently and is always on time or will call in advance to say how late she is running. She is conveniently located in midtown near my office so I can generally get the dental work done during lunch hours. She also referred me to very good endodontist when I needed a root canal.
