A dull day turned into a magical early evening at the Essex Inn. Christopher Santry and I drove down Route 9 from Valcour NY late in the afternoon. We spotted a chalk board on the porch of the Essex Inn advertising Monday BBQ and decided to have early dinner. The decor is pure Adirondack. The staff is pure North Country welcoming. The BBQ delicious. Lee’s guitar and soulful ballads reminiscent of an after-hours Nashville venue (including an Elvis ballad). Our new favorite place.

GREAT FOOD ! We take (walk on) the Ferry on the Vermont side and enjoy a great meal in a very historic building. If you time everything right, you catch the sunset on the way back to VT.
We had dinner here Friday night, just after coming off the Charlotte ferry. Delicious cocktails and food. The coating on the fried chicken was so light and crunchy. This was our first visit but not likely our last!
