Be ware if you go to him for an IME, he is verry charismatic getting you all at ease. Saying how corrupt the laws are here in Utah in regards to workman’s comp. Then he will throw you under the proverbial buss. I had to go to him for an IME on my hand I had an injury that resulted in surgery. The hand is still swollen, painful and I still haven't gotten back full motion. By the time he was done with me Workman’s comp had kicked me off of everything. I will never go to this doctor(?) again! When I asked him to take out the screw he put in my wrist becasue it was causing me so much pain (he kept me in a cast for 4 months) he got really close to my face and told me that I could always have my arm amputated if I'm not happy with it. Thank goodness that another "competent" doctor was able to take the screw out, and with a few steroid shots (which Vanderhooft advised me NOT to have) my wrist is now good as new. I wished I could give less than 1 star.
Never use this man for anything!!! Fifteen years ago he talked me into having surgery to repair a broken knuckle. I had no pain and full range of motion but he was very convincing. He told me I would end up with arthritis if I didn't have the procedure. I let him do the surgery and he never X-rayed to check on how it healed. The pin became dislodged and he "had" to do second surgery to fix it. Since then I have lost 30% range of motion and now have constant pain & arthritis. Mark Lazar, SLC
