Little Hidden Treasure Worth Looking For... – We have been very pleased with the unusually high quality of food and charming friendly atmosphere at The Equinox Restaurant. This a great place for a gourmet meal... especially of Salmon .. (me) and every thing else on the menu.. (my wife and extended family) at a very reasonable price I have dinned on salmon in every state in the Union except Alaska, and I am working on Alaska. The Equinox is among the best values in the country and it is right here in Portland. We highly recom... read more

CO-HO-HO! – Last night I went with my partner to Equinox, what a delightful and refreshing experience. First, we shared the panzanella appetizer... a wonderful combination of croutons, basil, cucumbers, red onions and fresh mozzarella. I think it had a sundried tomato vinaigrette, YUM!!! My partner, a vegetarian, had the Spring Pillow for her entree...puff pastry stuffed with spring veggies, topped with a berry reduction. I tasted it, TO DIE FOR!!! I ordered the coho salmon over caramelized onion potatoes, WOW!!! I'm so glad... read more

Who needs dessert when it tops the salmon? – Had heard good things from on in our party of five. The crowd inside reassured me, but after one of the worst meals I have had, I am skeptical to try others on the street, if the neighborhood can support and praise such mediocre food. The salmon tasted as though it was braised in actual caramel, piled atop a wet mashed assortment. Absolutely awful and my partner's syrupy-sweet seafood pallella only confirmed our mistakes. A brandy sidecar hinted at brandy but watery with pulp from... read more

Initially - great; Now - sub-par – Equinox was the first to come to the hood and offer something different. We couldn't praise it enough. The food was good, the service was prompt and it was within walking distance of our home. Now? Last Saturday's breakfast was a horrible experience. We were sat initially at a table that had been freshly verathaned. That's nice, breakfast with chemicals. After asking if we could move to another table and then moving, the waiter moved us yet again because in his words: "we need to save the 4... read more

Fabulous Dinners – My husband and I have been to Equinox about 3 times and on every occasion have been blown away by how great this little unassuming restaurant is, the service is fantasitic, the drinks are yummy and the food is out of this world. We can't wait for the patio to open in the spring.

Best kept secret in portland – I went to Equinox when it first opened last year. I have been a regular every since. I must say that Equinox started off good, but now it's amazing. The menu has evolved well. The food is top notch as far as flavor, presentation and value. I took my friends there last week and they were blown away at all the choices on the menu. Also if you haven't tried Equinoxs' breakfast yet, you're missing out! They have the best breakfast in town. My favorites are the benedicts and the egg sandwiches. I'll... read more

Worst meal in PDX – The patio appears that it would be charming in the summer. I went there for dinner, started with the calamari tempura -- and the evening was off to a bad start. The calamari was so heavily battered, that often times you wouldn't even get any squid in a bite -- some of the items on the plate were just fried batter, without the calamari. Next up for an entree, I had the special of the day, which was billed as Ahi Tuna, served over a potato mash. Unfortuntely, it was NOT ahi tuna, but Yellowfin, and it was c... read more

My New Favorite Restaurant – I love the atmosphere at Equinox. Inside you'll find a renovated industrial space with warm inviting colors, and outside- a festive landscaped courtyard with plenty of outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. The menu is eclectic and extensive- and they have great cocktails made with fresh ingredients. There were so many choices we had a hard time deciding. There must have been seven entree specials that night! I had the Mojito to start and the Habanero Flat Iron Stea... read more
