Nice small store, laid-back attitude, friendly staff I first found Ellie's while looking for BM dresses (I had already bought my gown). I've been back several times since because one of my BMs is also a bride and has purchased things from Ellie's. The store is quite small and definitely not as fancy-pants as some other places around this area. Disappointed in Ellie's Buying a wedding dress at Ellie's was a mistake. They were very friendly and helpful BEFORE the sale. After the sale I guess they think you are stuck. The gown did not fit at all. They kept making empty promises that the seamstress would fix it. She didn't. Three days before the wedding I realized it would never look good. Bad Service A bridesmaid and I traveled to Alexandria to check the color and fit of some bridesmaid's dresses we'd found online. We were left in a little back room by ourselves to look through their selection. The lady that was helping us was nice but basically put some books out in front of us for us to use as a selection guide. Surprised I wasn't overly impressed with the selection of formal dresses or the staff. They were informative of things when you first arrived but after they told me what they needed to I didn't see them again for about 45 minutes. They didn't help me with anything. Ellie's is AWFUL If you are looking for a wedding dress, or any dress for that matter do yourself a favour and stay away from Ellie's Bridal Boutique located at 225 N. Washington St. Alexandria VA. They state on their website that they are a full service boutique that takes pride in it's relationships with it's brides. I experienced nothing even close to this. ELLIE IS A CROOK! The staff was wonderful until I bought my dress, accessories AND prepaid for the necessary alterations. The seamtress totally botched up my dress and Ellie flat refused to refund any of my money - even the $300 for alterations. I went back 3 times trying to get it right and days before I had to leave town for my wedding, I took my unfinished dress somewhere else to be altered. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! I could just beat myself up for going to Ellie's. The issue for me is I had read the reviews - mixed but mostly poor, and I thought, honestly, how bad can it be? Well....AWFUL!!! Don't use them!!! DO NOT use Ellie's Bridal for your big day. I hardly ever write reviews but I don't want another bride to go through what I did. I ordered a wedding dress sash on March 12th for my June 23rd wedding and was told it would come in in a month. I called around mid-April and was told it would come in in mid May. In mid May I called and was told it would be shipped on May 27th, and was told the very last day it would be at the store was June 5th.
