I had an appointment for a consultation and had waited 2 months. Two days before my appointment, I was contacted by email that the appointment was canceled. There was no reason! I contacted the office to learn that Dr. Scherl is no longer doing colonoscopies. I can see from other comments, that although she is a competent doctor, the way in which her office functions, is chaotic. Why didn't they let me know sooner about the cancellation?
The Doctor was fine. The staff was not well informed and several were rude. I would not recommend due to the lack of coordination.
Excellent in figuring out the problem n treatment. Compassionate. Is highly respected in the Weil Cornell community n beyond. Dr Scherl truly cares about her patients and this is very important to my overall treatment.
I wouldn’t recommend her. On my first visit I had to wait 30 minutes because she went to lunch. After seeing her I was somewhat optimistic since she promised to diagnose a bowel problem. I had a colonoscopy and waited for 2 hours because I was told she’d come out and give preliminary results. That never happened. When she did call the next day she never addressed my problem until I asked. She seemed too busy and not at all informed.
Dr. Scherl is clearly smart and capable. Based on one office visit, and a number of interactions, I, unfortunately, determined that her time is in such demand and her office is so chaotic that I do not believe it is possible to have good care. I was scheduled for a procedure but the office failed to provide the pre-procedure protocol. I contacted them to inform them and I did not hear back until after I had the cancel.
Dr. Scherl is an expert in the field of gastroenterology and I have full confidence in her judgment. She is not only knowledgeable, but a kind and compassionate physician who exhibits genuine concern for my health and well-being. She responds to my correspondence in a timely manner and has, on occasion even returned my call in the evening after her office has closed.
Terrible experience. She has the attention span of a gnat. Continually gave me bad information. When the going got tough, she basically gave up. I went to another doctor at Mt. Sinai who got me stabilized. I would not recommend her to anyone.
She is a great doctor. She saved my life and agreed to see me earlier than my scheduled appointment because it was an emergency. That same day I saw her as a new patient and she got me admitted to the hospital (cornell). She is one of the best in her field. Maybe not always there to talk to you, but if need be, you can, but she will save your LIFE!. She also has a great PA, who you can always reach to ask questions.
Literally a life saver. I had some bad GI issues and Dr. Scherl was able to get me back to normalcy through her innovative care and knowledge of what's new and possible in GI. I had suffered from Crohn's for many years and was able to finally get into remission.
