I thought I was in the twilight Zone Saturday I took my family 9 people to eleven city diner for lunch I had been there a few times with friends and although I always thought the place was way over priced I liked the atmosphere. That all changed on sat As I said I was with my mother and father both in there late 70's,sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews you know one of those great family outings to catch up. I had heard about the owners melt downs but never witnessed it until sat. we arrived in a great mood everyone joking and ... read more
Rude Deli owner Brad – DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Owner is rude and should be put out of business!!! He treated our elderly parents, in there 70's like naughty children when they tried to join us by surprise for lunch! He does not like "joiners" or add on's. This guy is a joke! the restaurant was half empty on a Saturday afternoon. Brad ruined our dining experience and the food was overpriced and not impressive, We will not be back.
Last time I go here! – The food is ok but not worth the price. My husband I went there for brunch with our 9 mo old. Our bill was $50 and we didn't have anything to drink! They charged $7.00 for the kids pancake! I also think the owner is horrible. He is such a micro manager and needs to learn how to treat his staff in front of the customers. I also think he makes customers with children wait longer so he can sit them in the back or away from everyone else. That is fine but over the loud music, regular customer noise, and hi... read more
don't miss this place – so if you're sitting there right now looking through the hundreds of deli/breakfast places to go to in chicago you can stop. you don't want to miss this place. great bagels, lox, sandwiches and eggs, awesome atmosphere
Cold, soggy, and slow. – This was my 4th and final visit to Eleven City. Service has always been slow and the cost on the high side. This visit I came in to order a take out sandwich. After ordering and telling them I would be sitting "right here" (which was 4 ft from the deli counter) and them saying "sure, we'll tell you when it's ready", I proceeded to wait 35 min for my sandwich (at ~3pm in the afternoon - not busy at all). After finally getting my sandwich, it was cold (it was supposed to be at least somewhat warm - cor... read more
Nice staff, good food – Wow, I am surprised at the negative reviews. I was in Chicago for a conference and went to this place at the recommendation of the Hilton staff. I liked it so much that I went again during the same trip. The food was good and this is a unique place, to me at least. I went there both times with my sweetheart and we loved the waitresses, very friendly.
Pushy and Overrated – I live in the area and have been to this place a few times and every time I ask myself, "Why did I come back?" The owner is a tool and honestly doesn't know one thing about customer service. It surprises me that he's made it this long. He treats his staff like dirt, I am not sure why they stay there and yells across the restaurant in front of all his guests. When you are seated it's like you should be blessed that you are able to sit there as it's almost like you?re an inconvenience. Don't even try to r... read more
Just don't go! – Terrible experience. Slimy, not to be trusted, bi-polar owner/mgr. How could this place have anything above 1 star (you have to give it one for the review to be accepted)? Stayed at the Hilton, went w/ concierge recommendation. He was gone when I returned to correct his suggestion. Eat anywhere else...it'll be a better experience.
POS owner, the worst! – The 11th city diner is a joke. The owner is rude, disrespectful, and argumentative. I will never go here again! The food is sub par. I went with my parents when they came to town to visit and was embarrassed by waiting for a table in an empty restaurant and being over charged for breakfast and harassed by the owner over the prices. Watch out the owner is a scammer. They make the prices up as they go along, your receipt will be wrong and then he will argue with you. The meal ended with the owner tellin... read more
