A local mom & pop style restaurant. Weekend breakfast buffet is the best in town. Northern New Mexico cuisine. Also great burgers. Salsas have won numerous awards.

Go in hungry, leave the same! El Rancho in Portales is supposed to have good Mexican food. We decided to try them out as our family loves Mexican fare. When we went in, it was fairly quiet. The restaurant was clean. We seated ourselves at a table and watched the waitresses. We thought they would ask our drink preferences and give us a menu. After 20 minutes of sitting at our table with not even a glass of water, we got up and went to another restaurant.
