MUST GO HERE! – I had walked by el parador many times, and it never really struck me as a place I "had" to go to. Let me tell you, this place is AMAZING! I went with a group of people and we all had something different, so I tried many dishes. For appetizers, we had the peanut butter stuffed jalepenos, which were DELICIOUS. U must try those. THe guacomole is perfect and made everything even better. THe chicken liver appetizer was great and the cerviche was wonderful. For dinner, I had the famous "el parador chicken" which wa... read more

Anthony? Whatabout Alex?? – This guy is one of the singular restaurant talents in New York City. It's fitting he should run the dining room made famous by Don Carlos, perhaps NYC's best Maitre d' ever. Not easy shoes to fill, but Alejandro brings energy and excitement to "old school" and El Parador has survived the coming and going and coming back of Mexican food. The shrimp quesadillas call to me from across town.

One of my off-the-beaten-path faves! – I love this place! The mood and food are always perfect, the staff are overly friendly and will do anything to make your meal more pleasant. I almost always choose to eat family style and don't forget a pitcher - or two of the excellent margaritas! Main suggestions: the chicken parador is excellent (order early, can take awhile) - also suggested, the shrimp quesadilla, lava cake, and the jalapenos filled with peanut butter may sound odd, but I prefer this over the cheese ones now.

More Than Just Mole and Margarita – I lived across the street from this restaurant for years before finally going in one evening for one of the best meals ever in New York City. Not only is the food excellent, but the presentation and service is excellent, and Alex is one of the most amiable and funny Maitre Ds in the City. If you love margaritas that aren't too sweet or taste like they've been made with petrol, this is the place. It's not trendy or hip, and that's fine with me. Guaranteed to please is you want, great food, ... read more

nyc's best mexican – i've been eating at el parador for almost 10 years and have yet to be disappointed. the food (from the pork chop to the chips and salsa), service, and the margaritas are all tops. while this stretch of 34th street might be a little bare, this restaurant is worth the trip.

Clandestine Mexican – Nice out-of-the way joint. Solid cocktails, food and service. Nice nieghborhood feel. Very pleasant maitre 'de. The grilled double-cut pork chops, excellant. Reccomended for margaritas in a glass, reserved atmosphere to talk. This is Mexican without the frat house.
