Tex-Mex like you are used to – I'm not the biggest fan of Tex Mex. I like my foods traditional and that means not slathered with queso cheese sauce. If you like that kind of thing than this place is fine. The Sides are basically just like any other tex-mexican restaurant you've ever been too. The fajitas are pretty good and they have nice specials to pick from that aren't always slathered with queso.
the Best Mexican restaurant Ever!! – This restaurant has everything that you could be looking for... To begin with the Staff that is very friendly, they make you feel like at home!! Waiters are very fast, food is absolutely superb!! That Chicken stuffed with veggies is wonderful; The flavored margaritas are very refreshing and blend to perfection and above everything, great prices; You can find quality, services and good atmosphere that always will make you comeback. Wow !! to those bad comments, it seems to me, that some one is really trying to hurt the reputation of this family restaurant ( competitors maybe?); I stared going to EL MATADOR with my parents when I was 2 years old, and I never ever found anything wrong but a GREAT food, GREAT services and of course GREAT prices. El Matador I always thought this was just an OK restaurant. It is good tex-mex food just nothing super fancy. The prices are just a bit high for me considering the quality of level of service. Older establishment in Denton.
El Matador I agree also. Do not go here unless you want to waste your money and get sick possibly. Not a good dining experience and definitely not for small children. Service is terrible and food taste and looks bad. When you walk in the front door pay attention to the smell. It's not food, it's something else. I would not recommend. Sorry.
Another Super Nasty! I dined here a few months ago and agree with the last review for this place about a year ago. The place is filthy and nasty inside and out. Has the health department done an inspection here lately? My goodness. If this is where you should take your family to dine, you should be shot for thinking so. Years ago, they were pretty good. There must have been a change in ownership.
great value! – the food is pretty good- not a smothered-in-cheese, Mi Casita-style exactly, but tasty Mexican food. Very affordable, good service. this is my folks' favorite mexican spot in denton, i prefer Mi Casita but this one is good, too. The specials are usually a good bet.
Not that great. After reading everyone's great reviews on El matador I would see what all the fuss was about. I was very disappointed. First, the booth that we were seated in was still dirty and their was food stuck all over our menus, which then preceded to get all over my clothes. Next The service was absolutely horrible, the waiter only came by twice, once to take the order and then at the end to drop off the check. So no refills on my drink.
