Excellent Mexican Food and Margaritas!!! – It's kinda tough finding a good mexican place that has a decent location and can accommodate a group. That's exactly what El Jardin offers. Before/After a Cubs game stop in and try their Carne Asada, Enchiladas, and OF COURSE the margaritas. Their margaritas make my top 5 in the city. I love the patio. All around great restaurant!!!
Bad, flavorless mexican food – I guess I should have thought twice before getting takeout from a place that specializes in margaritas, but I thought the food would at least be decent. I was very wrong. The portions are average at best and the food is flavorless. I wouldn't eat here ever again.
Good for quick meal. – If you do eat at one of the outdoor seating area expect to leave as soon as you're done eating. The food was okay.
Eat, drink and be merry! – El Jardin's, hands down, has the best margaritas in the Chicagoland area. The service providers have always been attentive and the fact that it is family operated makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere is pleasing both indoors and out. Whether I'm w/ friends, family, co-workers or all of the above, I enjoy visitng there all year around. Not only are the margaritas good, but the coffee is to die for!
User review by ejardin – Im surprized this is considered a cantina when its a full sevice restaurant, with excellent food. It should also be nominated for great outdoor dining with two gardens. This restarant has been at the same location since 1967.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – This lively cantina serves Mexican specialties and potent margaritas to a casual Lakeview crowd.
Disappoinment – We had heard good things about El Jardin, so we decided to go before a Cubs night game. We were surprised to sit down right away outside (around 6:15 pm). The food was OK. Even though it wasn't very busy that night, our waitress never stopped by to ask us if we wanted another drink.
Get a Clue! – The only draw to this place is the location and outdoor seating. The staff is slow and if you sit outside, they pester you to order more or hustle you out. The margaritas are poor. The food is substandard. Ceasars has the best margaritas in Chicago. El jardin is just another bad mexican resturant casualty.
overrated! – The waiter was rude once he learned we weren't purchasing any margaritas, and provided lousy service filling glasses and bringing chips and salsa. The enchiladas I had were burned as was the entree my friend ordered. We felt hurried the whole meal and were left with an unpleasant dining experience.
El Jardin has a 4.1 star rating with 679 reviews.
