The food is excellent, but they really need to improve on customer service. We went there for a birthday lunch on a Sunday. We were a party of nine. The place was totally empty, yet the whole time we were rushed. We were still eating and the person who was waiting on us was practically taking the plates away before we were done. Standard Mexican menu .. but not alot of flavor. We have 3 other Mexican restaurants within 4 blocks that are much better. At least you get alot of food for the price.

They are a local restaurant and they have been fantastic from the moment you enter, throughout your entire meal. They serve real authentic Mexican meals, that are just fantastic, can't miss. I recommend them to newcomers and locals, if you want a Mexican Restaurant come here. We used to split between El Coronel and El Torito, but since they closed El Torito we go exclusively to El Coronel, and not a single regret. Local people making fantastic authentic Mexican meals that you will enjoy. Visit.
El Coronel is colorful and inviting. The staff is very attentive. The food is very authentic and tasty. I had the chile verde dish. The pork was very tender. We had a sampler plate that is a tasty meal in itself. I definitely will return. You should try it out.
