El Cheapo's is what it should be called! – This has got to be the worst place I have eaten out in, in all of Nashville. McDonalds would have been better! The drinks were supossed to be 2 for 1 on the Margarita's, but the waitress failed to tell us that, so we ordered high priced drinks that tasted slightly better than fruit juice, NO alcohol in them. Then when we did order the margarita's, she told us they were $4.09 for 2, the bill came, they were $5.29, she said I forgot to tell you there was an extra charge for a flavored... read more
Very quick service, large menu – Although this is a chain restaurant, they still do it right. I like many mexican restaurants, but many times we choose El Chico for good food served quickly. The service is usually ridiculously quick, and the quality very consistent. Also, many of the waitstaff seem to have been there a long time.
Love the chimichangas! Great food! – I am a HUGE fan of El Chico's everywhere in Texas. I'm worried because all of them seem to be closing down though. =( Hopefully this location in McKinney is here to stay. We visited there last month and had a great experience. Our server was friendly and especially nice to our children. He gave them each a balloon and that just made their day. It also helped them with behaving in the restaurant. Surprisingly Good! – Though born & bred in South Texas, this was my first visit to El Chico in my 32 years. My pal and I were in town overnight for business and headed there for supper. In addition to the expected complimentary chips 'n salsa, the brisket enchiladas with chipotle sauce were VERY good...especially with a few bottles of Dos Equis! I wasn't expecting such yummy food from a chain. Too bad there are no El Chico restaurants in Tex-Mex glutted San Antonio!
Best Mexican – I live on the west side of knoxville and travel to El Chico's about once every other month to dine. My wife and I think it's the best mexican food by far.
my family dines here about twice a month and have always had consistently excellent food and service. we also dine at don pablos at knoxville ctr and find it surprising that this web site rates it 8.2 and el chicos 7.2. el chicos is a cut above in the quality of the food than don pablos.
Delicious Tex/Mex Food! – I dine @ this restaurant quite often and I love it because most of people are very polite (not the hostess, she's awfully stuck up!) and I love the food! It's a comfortable place to eat at so I would definately recommend this restaurant to any out of towners and friends! (not that everyone doesn't already know of it...=)
