If there is a wait at this popular restaurant, order a classic margarita or a 'floater' and dip into the chips and hot sauce and/or queso. Before long, you will be addressing a plate full of the Tex-Mex standard of your choice. Or try any of the variations on barbecued chicken-the chalupas of this variety are especially tasty. Entrees make this a fairly inexpensive spot, provided you do not get carried away on the margaritas. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and El Arroyo has a sense of humor: Just check out the pointedly w... read more

Ignorant and appalling. Horrible customer service.
All the horror connected with the meat & dairy industry. Huge drought in California no joking matter. I am very alarmed. Even the united nations is asking folks to go vegan.
An Austin Institution! Margs, great food, and great patio. Nuff said.
Their signs are pretty damn funny. Going to be making a trip to Texas soon so it's my mission to go check this place out. Everyone gets too offended and gets all worked up over their signs sometimes and it's ridiculous. I think y'all are hysterical and can't wait to come check out your food!
I haven’t been to El Arroyo in many years. However, I have fond family memories from this restaurant. The sayings on the billboard are priceless.? I just posted the one about therapists to my Facebook Timeline. I look forward to visiting El Arroyo again with a beautiful date. Heather Watson, M. A., LPC-S
After waiting for over 45 minutes with the waitress only coming by to give us water and the menus, she disappeared. Everyone that walked in after us got their drinks and some even got food and after standing up to talk to a manager, they said for us to "give them a minute". Horrible service!
Max wanted to say how much he loved El Arroyo! The service was incredible and so was the food (mommy and daddy wouldn’t share though). He will definitely be recommending this place!
Was very disappointed in the whole experience.. The service was horrible first of all. There were only 2 tables of people when we arrived so we THOUGHT service would be good and quick. NOt. Never got our drinks refilled and I sat at least 10 minutes waiting for my plate after the rest of my party already had theirs. I ordered enchiladas and they were probably the worst I've ever had I couldn't even finish my plate. My mom and husband weren't happy with their food either. We also ordered a bowl of queso that we never got. The... read more
El Arroyo...I've loved it since my UT Austin days back in the 90s. They don't have the white queso that was sooooo good anymore. They have the funny sayings on the sign outside and the serious TexMex on the inside. Great happy hour with cheap eats from 2-7pm Monday through Friday. I love the nachos and the quesadillas. Now that I work downtown across the street from the Famous El Arroyo, I take a late lunch at 2pm about 3 times a week and enjoy! Try it out! You will love it also!
