Before long, you will be addressing a plate full of the Tex-Mex standard of your choice. Or try any of the variations on barbecued chicken-the chalupas of this variety are especially tasty. Entrees make this a fairly inexpensive spot, provided you do not get carried away on the margaritas. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and El Arroyo has a sense of humor: Just check out the pointedly w... read more

I have lived in Austin for 36 years and never once had I been to El Arroyo. A year or so ago my mom and I decided to go. We drove down searched for parking walked down the block from the parking to the restaurant. When we entered several people were eating. After 25 minutes of sitting at a table with no one even saying hi or taking drink order we walked out. Worst service ever. I won't ever go back and wont ever recommend it to anyone.

Usually a great stop for the best food and drink specials. Tonight was the exception. Like literally 3 ppl working tonight with a house full. About 10 mins to get water and then immediately left them without interacting. They were way busy for the amount of staff. App we finally got was very greasy. I will go back because I’ve been going for over 25 years. But a first timer might experience a significantly reduced level of service and decide not to return.
