Nice and quiet It's not very often that you find an independent book store in a city like LA and Dutton's is exactly that. The best part about this bookstore is that it also has a good collection of used books... how many times have you wanted to buy a book only to find it's utterly expensive... and so often you just wanna read the book and not be over-awed by its glitzy cover? One of the last used book stores! I am a voracious reader and lov used book stores. Unfortunatly they are dissapearing and Amazon.com charges too much for used book shipping. Fortunatly, Duttons in North hollywood still sells used books. There selection is modest, but they have a wide variety of subjects and their staff is helpful.

Dutton's Rocks! One of only a handful of independent bookstore in the San Fernando Valley, Dutton's Bookstore is an absolute treasure. Dutton's employee's are always the coolest and most well-read of any batch of bookstore employees and they're not snobby about it, either! My favorite parts of Duttons are the rare and first edition book cabinet, the pulp fiction novel drawer, oh, and the cute boy behind the counter! What a book store should be... If you're a book lover and you haven't been to Dutton's get in your car right now and drive over. Sure, Barnes and Noble and Borders have coffee and bathrooms, but a trip to Dutton's just feels good. Like a big comfy chair or something - and no, they don't have those either. But what they do have is winding skinny aisles full of books stacked high, cool little nooks, interesting art prints, a huge selection of used books at great prices, and... parking. Awesome book store This is a cool little bookstore. I always go here to support the private businesses over the big corporations. They offer those hard to find, out of print books, through special order or by in stock! They have a great selection of quirky eclectic greeting cards with cool art. It is an art store too. They have prints of many movie one sheets and old posters. I highly recommend this place. I dig this book store. very small and quaint but you ask anyone there anything about books and you won't be dissapointed they know EVERYTHING. they all have great prices and it's always good to help out the "neighborhood store" stay in business!

Although not a large bookstore, Dutton's Studio City location has lots of new, used, & rare books for you to peruse & buy, not to mention a fantastic selection of greeting cards & postcards. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable & can order you anything you need that isn't currently in stock. They also do out of print searches for books that are no longer available. This is a great local bookstore.
