Dr Chung spent a lot of time with my husband and I at the 2 appointments before my surgery. He answered all of our questions and concerns. He was very detail oriented and if I wasn't understanding something he would explain it a different way. I love how he explained my MRI to me in layman terms and not totally medical terminology. I was grateful for that. I found Dr Chung very caring and he had a wonderful bedside manner. I would definitely refer others to him and will continue to see him if other things come up for me.
Dr. Chung spent over 13 hours operating to repair my spine. I am thankful for Dr. Chung. He is an expert and has knowledge beyond any other doctor. I have referred many people to Dr. Chung and they are also impressed with his thoroughness. Thank you Dr. Chung for being my back doctor!
Dr Chung did well on the first 5 spinal surgeries. Numbers 6 and 7 not so good. Turns out 2 pedicle screws were placed incorrectly - MRI showed later when he claimed they moved after surgery. They did not move as they were not loose and 2 neurosurgeons confirmed this. I emailed pics of cervical incision after surgery #5 to his PA as I was concerned about possible infection. Very prepared and detailed!
I found Dr. Woosik to be cold and have absolutely no understanding of the trauma pain can cause. Unless you have a clear diagnosis of exactly what kind of surgery you need don’t waste your time. He claims to have state of the art diagnostic equipment, and then tells you you’re in the wrong place for diagnostics. He was 40 minutes late, and didn’t answer a single question I had. He may be a great surgeon, but his bedside manner is anything but. He needs some trauma informed education.

My respect and admiration for Dr Woosik Chung is only matched by my childhood family doctor, Dr Artwen Washer, who saved me from bleeding to death at 12 years old. Dr. Chung performed my 3rd spinal fusion in 2010, from C3-C7, which was amazing. Because of this, it was difficult for me to hear a certain amount of rudeness and uncaring from him when I visited Dr. Chung last year. Dr. Chung is skilled beyond belief. I have three new discs. I just had my final appointment and everything is great. Exceptional bone growth around my fusion. Played 57 rounds of golf last summer and will beat that total this summer! I still can’t believe my luck. You really have to pay attention to what the doctor is telling you during the early stages of healing. Follow the program and you’ll be just fine
Dr Chung performed a microdiscectomy that was so bad I was bed ridden. The surgery was successful and felt miraculous. 7 years later I am still doing fantastic. Dr Chung is very caring, friendly, professional and experienced. I would never hesitate to recommend him for back issues.
I haven't had surgery yet, but my wife and I had two consultations with Dr. Chung. I found him deeply connected with his patients and took a lot of time to answer our questions. Except for one small bobble, his office staff have been exceptional, gracious, calming and supportive.
