Dr. Vela lost 3 loyal patients yesterday and didn't even bat an eye. The scheduling is terrible and they will "give your appointment away". I literally left crying after Dr. Vela snapped at me in front of another patient. If you want a Psychiatrist that actually cares this is not the place to go.
Whoever does her billing is inept. You will be overcharged and spent months trying to get your money back, even with proof that you're owed money. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
The receptionist—Michele, Melissa—laughed when I told her I have an appt. “Um, I called all her patients and rescheduled this morning.” Said i live 2 hours away, is there a way to see her? She looked incredulous. “What, like, today? No. Tomorrow or in 2 weeks. I called all of her patients,” Held up phone. “No calls. No voicemail.” “Ok well I’m not going to argue with you,” and she closed the window in my face. Dodged a bullet not seeing her—after seeing her reps, why receive her “treatment”
Out of 6 appointments 3 were rescheduled. 3 of the appointments expect to wait 15 to 40 mins after your appointment time. If you would like to be a human guinea pig this place is fantastic. Going to seek professional help then being told " so what". Save your time and money and see a real professional. I put extreme trust into this doctor to leave with no help. Sad.
Dr. Vela takes the time to listen to her patients, work with them on the best medicinal protocols. She is very patient and kind. A doctor you feel comfortable opening up to, and knowing she is listening and there to help. I had been seeing my old psychiatrist in Houston for 6 years. When I moved, I was terrified about finding a new one. Dr. Vela turned out to be AMAZING.
Answering machine does not even accept messages after hours. ER could not even get ahold of her. Varying lunch hours, open every other Fri until noon. Does not return calls. Will not agree to phone consult for med adjustment. Expects you to pay another $135 to go in for med consult. Worst run office & practice I've encountered in 25 years.
Nice lady. Never had to wait long and takes a unique approach to each individual case. She has always been willing to listen to my side of things and then makes decisions from there. I would highly recommend this doctor to anyone needing her kinds of services.
NO CHANCE! MY RATING IS ZERO STARS OUT OF FIVE! I am one caretaker for my 31 year old daughter who was under Dr. Vela's care for about 3 months before being suddenly dropped for no verifiable reason. My daughter had a fear of being dropped and Dr. Vera knew this ... Yet, she dropped her anyway, furthering my daughter's trauma. My daughter is suffering from PTSD, 3 years amnesia and several other diagnosis that Dr. Vela was qualified to care for. She left my daughter with no care or recours
