I am not one that is very happy with Dr Tavel in Greenwood. They cannot get your order right, (happened to me more than once), they cannot keep the same staff more than 6 months,and the staff they have now have been very rude to me in person and on the phone. I will not go back.

Dr. Tavel in New Castle is the worst place ever to get glasses! I have insurance. I picked out glasses they wrote it up and said that will be $202. I said ok and paid it. Then they said, "They will be in in two weeks." Its now been three weeks and they still don't have them in. I understand they cant be made in an hour but a place as well known as that should figure out how to get them to the customer in less than 3 weeks. I think its ridiculous! Negative star rating!

I only am rating this one star because it wouldn't let me rate it with zero stars. The optical staff is clueless when it comes to HIPPA and obtaining and retaining your personal information. They wanted to keep a copy of my driver's license which I refused to give them and they also refused to release information regarding my son's prescription (which I paid for!) Horrible place....I just went in to get an updated prescription. I had the old Dr. Tavel and he took over 45 mins and kept rechecking my eyes. He refused to give me my written prescription before I left despite the fact I paid $120 for the exam. When I called the office next week (after Christmas), I was told I had an outstanding bill-$18 for an eye dilation. I have been going to eye doctors since I was 8 and I know when my eyes are dilated. Appointment was 4:15 & 4:30. Was not seen until 4:45 (no apologies or explanation) BUT... the worst part is this: My girls insurance is Medicaid. While we were waiting we were looking at frames. The attendant who helped me register KNEW it was Medicaid and was even showing us frames. After when we find we need glasses, and we get the ones we want, one of the attendants said did anyone tell you which frames you get? I said no. I advise you NOT to utilize this company for your optical needs! I made an appointment in January 2014 for my daughter to have an eye exam, showed up for it (mid February) and they had an office full of customers and NO eye doctor available. I should have walked right out then, and never looked back. But we did go back after rescheduling an appointment 'again.' .I have been to this location on several different occasions trying to get contact lenses.First appointment the wrong contacts were ordered for me with the stigmatism that I have.After returning for a second appointment I had to call my secondary eye care provider and ask him for the prescription for my glasses to give to the doctor at the Dr.Tavel office.Afer the appointment the doctor said that he would order two sets of trial contacts for me to try and see which pair worked out better.I got a call to pick up my trial cant... read more

I've been to numerous Dr Tavels and they are all the exact same way the other review states-- rude rude rude!!! They don't care at all about the customer!!!! I even called their main customer service number at 924-1300 and if you have an issue to discuss the message says to leave your name and number and someone will call you back. I've dove that twice and no one has called me!!!! Dr Tavel is a baaaaad choice for an eye doctor!!!!
