Surgery was completed as planned. After surgery he got a plane for one of his many speaking tours. His group of residence either have no authority or no ability to provide after care. The care at the hospital was horrible. The orders changed depending on the doctor that day. We were discharged with the wrong papers and no one cared. It was for a female and the patient was a male. My son has Crohn's disease and developed a horseshoe perianal fistula requiring multiple surgeries. He has been a patient of Dr. Wexner's for almost three years and throughout, Dr. Wexner and his team of Fellows and Residents have provided my son excellent surgical and post operative care. And the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida is the best hospital that my son or I have ever been to. I had a similar experience as the person from April 2015. I saw another Dr. because he was not available. I was given a topical cream and sent home with no instructions. I called back to the office to get some instruction and was told topically for 2 weeks. After suffering for 2 months using the cream, taking 3 sitz baths a day, using stool softner, fiber diet, etc. nothing worked so I decided I wanted to get a surgical consult and he was listed as the "best". I am very thankful to Dr Steven Wexner and his whole team including his office staff and to the great group of doctors that are training underneath him. I just recently had two surgeries by Dr. Wexner due to Crohns Disease. Dr. Wexner was very professional and straight to the point. I was very confident that i would have the best chance of a successful outcome because of Dr. Wexner. Dr. Wexner is the most arrogant physician I have ever met. My surgical outcome was extremely poor. I wish I had selected a different surgeon. Cleveland Clinic Florida is not the same institution as "the" Cleveland Clinic. Better care may be found at UM.
I was suffering from what I thought was a case of hemorrhoids and was dealing with an incredibly painful situation that was interfering with my ability to function. I tried to see Dr. Wexner but he had no room to see me in a timely manner. So pending my appointment with him, I was directed to one of his colleagues. Dr Wexner is a consummate professional with a desire to heal, teach, and continue to expand his knowledge (he is intelligent already). It's understandable people have differences with they way they feel about doctors because of their own fears if the unknown; medically speaking. From first hand experience Dr Wexner is kind, compassionate and understanding however, he shows that professional face and that's what some don't understand. Before I went to see Dr. Wexner, I understood that his bedside manner was rather brusque. Many surgeons are that way. But his skills are exceptional. He knows what he is doing, and he cares about ensuring that patients have the best outcomes possible. I had had four previous colon surgeries, one of which nearly cost me my life, and the doc who performed that surgery was very personable. He was mediocre, but he talked a good game. This is an caring and amazing surgeon. He spent 7 hrs operating on me so I could retain my colon. Because of him I have a normal life.
