I am happy that we found a better doctor. He refused to see my children after I took my son to a walk in clinic when he broke his hand.
We've been seeing Dr. Shlafer for 9 years now. We have six children so we see him regularly. I appreciate his willingness to discuss vaccines pros and cons. Our previous doctor wouldn't even acknowledge potential risks with vaccines. He has always been respectful and caring. Couldn't be more disgusted. He was my husband and sister in laws pediatrician so we decided to have him for our son. The first visit his extremely incompetent nurse came in with vaccinations for my son. I explained he had already had them. She goes on to patronize me that they recommend children to have them but it's my choice. I explained about 5 times to her that he had already had those vaccinations and did not need them again. Be warned that Dr. Shlafer is an anti-vaxxer. He encourages his patients to delay vaccines and does not even administer several of them (such as the Hep A and the flu shot) because they're "unsafe."
I have been using Dr Shlafer since my first born who is almost 17. He was my ex husbands doctor too. He HSS NEVER rushed us. He asks how my other kids are by name, even when they're not with us. He will tell you the TRUTH about vaccines, and believes in letting you decide what is best for your child. He makes follow up calls to you personally to check on your child. He is by far the best doctor out there.

Excellent doctor, love his bedside manner. Seems extremely knowledgeable. Very caring. We would still be going to see him but we moved.
This man should not be practicing medicine, let alone care for children! I met him this summer 4 the 1st time to discuss our foster kids' records. We waited over 30 min. in the waiting area while he was "hanging around" the reception desks. When the assistant/nurse(?) finlly called us, he took us to a visiting rm. handing my husband and me the med.records and left the room (clear violation). He never met me before! Dr Shlafer was my husband's doctor growing up and is now my son's. My son was born with a genetic adrenal disorder and was premature. I know I can trust him and he has always been there night and day when we need anything. He never talks down to me, explains everything and I love that he asks me what I think about what's going on with my baby before he gives me his opinion. He thinks the parents know their child best and values the parents opinion.
