Dr. Almanza is fully empathetic and demonstrates genuine care for patients like me and my family. He fully attends to my needs and requests. He presents comprehensive health options without hesitation, showing thoroughness in care.He is also Deaf-friendly and exhibits patience, making the experience comfortable for me as a Deaf patient.Overall, he is a 'What-a-wonderful-doctor!' kind of doctor!
My husband has been seeing this Dr for 4 years. Last month was seen by a new NP who added a new med, stopped blood pressure med, said return in one week to see how he is. I called office to let them know he was having problems with new med, they said go to ER or wait till next visit. All these came from office manager who is not a nurse and does not know or understand medical problems. I have seen Almanza for so long I cant remember when i first had seen him. (Some time since early 2000's. Since I hadn't been sick since 2001 they considered me a new patient and will no longer see me which took a week to decide. Extremely disappointed in this practice because he's been one of only two doctors in my lifetime. Not complaining about his knowledge cause he's a great doctor just disappointed that after so long they do this to a lifetime patient.
I made a new patient appointment in January and could only get a March appointment. I was called a week before and asked to reschedule to April. I just got another call to reschedule the April appointment! I wasted 4 months trying to just be seen. I will find another Dr. and Practice that wants to see new patients and cares about their health.
When I called to schedule an appointment, I asked for something early. The receptions said they had a 7:30 a.m. and I said “Oh, no. I don’t even open my eyes until 7:30 a.m. I meant early like after 8 or around 9.” We laughed about it and she said, we can do an 11:20. And that was the time that we agreed on and even repeated twice before the end of the call. I leave my office at 11:00 to be at the appointment at 11:20. They always take care of me. Scheduling an appointment is easy.
Dr. Almanza is an amazing doctor. However, his PA is NOT! He didn't listen to my son's issues and took advantage that he's young, ordering unnecessary in-office blood work testing that is not covered by insurance and had just been done by another physician costing us $80. Now, we will have to pay another $98. Unbelievably disappointed. Office staff sent me on a wild goose chase regarding canceling these tests as they say they had already sent them out when he had just left there 10 minutes earlier. Great staff.. Short wait times..clean office.. attentive Dr and Np and they have a place inside there office for lab draw. You wont be disappointed.
