The procedure I had done took bones out of my neck and put rods and screws in. Considering I was quite attached to those bones, the level of pain caused by their removal was quite extreme. I did NOT feel like my pain was managed at all. I could not sleep for the 1st 28 hours after surgery due to my pain level. Despite repeated calls from the very dedicated nurses taking care of me, the “doctors” (not sure if Dr Patel or residents/students) did not seem to have a remedy nor really care that I was in a great deal of pain and u... read more

Amazing Surgeon! My dad fell off a ladder and the surgeons in our area wouldn't touch him because his cervical injury was too complex. We took him to u of m, and Dr. Patel called me to go over his condition and the surgery he needed. He discussed the risks involved and could tell we were so anxious not being able to be there with him due to covid. After the surgery he called me himself to tell me what procedures he ended up needing to preform and that there were no complications! He saved my dad and we are forever grateful t... read more

Dr Patel performed my L5 S1 spinal fusion surgery with cage. It has been 1 full year since the surgery and I feel fantastic. Absolutely no pain and no side effects. He changed my life.

Overpaid, outdated skills. Asked about disc replacement, he started reciting old study results from 2002. Spent weeks doing intake paperwork and researching the doctor, day off work, 3 hours of driving, pay to use their parking structure. More repeat paperwork in waiting room. After all my trouble, he spent less than 5 minutes with me and dismissed my questions about my symptoms and said he had to hurry. Received bill for $500. Great service!? Their billing and marketing system appear to be working perfectly though.

Extremely grateful for Dr. Patel!! He truly listed to me and answered every question I had, he cared about how I understood and perceived my care. But the most amazing thing was when I was admitted to ER, 2 months following my surgery NOT caused by what he had done for me, but he still sent an associate to check on me and that associate was by my side within 20 minutes from arriving. I do not know many doctors that care enough to make sure they are doing everything they can to help you, even in the short time after they have... read more

He was condescending, rude and acted like he was a god, which he is far from. He did three spine surgeries in four months, all for the same thing, and all failed miserably. Instead of repairing his first or second failure, he just kept going higher up my spine. Even his trusted nursing assistance told me to write a complaint to the hospital about him because according to them, they have to hear about all the complaints about him, but are scared to death of him. Never going back. Go to Tec Soo at

He didn't explain or seem to understand my MRI results. Very dismissive.

This is actually my 2nd review of Dr. Patel. I am now 6 months post-op ALIF & I'm 100% pain free! I have gotten back to exercise & my hobbies. I went scuba diving in Mexico a few weeks ago & had no problems! I'm back to my strengthening exercises & cardio workouts (running/elliptical). I'm keeping my core strong. I can't say enough about how Dr. Patel changed my life. I was in pain, taking meds, unable to sit, not sleeping well, even crying at work. I'm so happy now! PAIN FREE! Meredith :)
