I had Dr. Garg as my psychiatrist while I was an undergrad at UPenn and he really listened and tried to help me, even when his administrative superiors were telling him to cut our appointments short and just shove antidepressants down my throat until I got quiet because it was more cost effective. He was a funny, down-to-earth stand up psychiatrist, the few who have given me adequate psychotherapy in addition to med treatment, and the way Penn Med treated him is an abomination, but I'm not surprised, they were always mad our... read more
Throughout the pandemic, Dr. Garg has conducted telemed appointments to keep his patients and himself safe. His quality of care, as I expounded on in a previous review, has remained unchanged. As a testament to his care, knowledge and expertise, we are in the process of reducing the level of dosage of a particular anxiety medication that I am perscribed; he has taught me other methods to reduce anxiety. I consider this a success for Dr. Garg and myself, (he has also taught me that it is OKAY to give myself credit). Psychiatr... read more
I have never written a bad review prior, about anything, in my life - but I think that this merits a few cautionary words. A few years ago, this doctor ultimately helped me find a medication after much trial and error, however I found him to be otherwise extremely unprofessional in his demeanor and constant tardiness (which he did not seem to perceive as a form of disrespect/ seems to assume that all patients can and will wait indefinitely). He always repeated his anecdotes, jokes, etc. and tended to forget our prior session... read more
Hey Dr. Garg if you're reading this this is Sarah Hochstadt and I reported you to the state board. I hurt this man's ego by politely telling him I felt disrespected by his hour long wait times and that I wanted to look for someone else. I asked for refills in the meantime, because, you know, we're in a pandemic and it's kind of hard to secure healthcare right now. He is now holding my anxiety meds (which I've been prescribed for 3 years prior to seeing him) over my head because he doesn't feel "comfortable" prescribing them,... read more
dr. Garg has treated my husband for 5+ years and under his care, his mental health has stabilized yet his anger has worsened. My husband is high on marijuana during most appointments as he is most of the time yet they have never discussed his open and constant drug use. Dr.Garg has given him psychiatric drugs that aggravate his anger problem without talking to him about how the meds interact with his self-medicating. He also continues to give him meds with anger as a side effect despite his knowledge that he has a problem th... read more
I began seeing Dr. Garg approximately 7 years ago when my former doctor moved his practice; I have also seen many behavioral health practitioners throughout 20 years in the Army as well as my time as a public servant. Dr. Garg makes time for his patients and has a demeanor of genuine concern. He seeks to treat the underlying "trigger" through a variety of techniques as opposed to "just throwing pills" at the problem. He is responsive to emails, and I have personally observed him put aside "extra time" for patients, once tell... read more
Dr. Garg is by far the worst mental health professional in the tri state area. Not only could he care less about his patients, he also risks lives by having the upper hand. Med management is a game for him and you either have to get on his good side or he will not provide you with what you need, resulting in health risks. If you love waiting 1+ hours to see him, then he’s your guy. He has never been on time for an appt, he has never even been close to being on time. Every appt I wait 1 hour in the waiting room and his “apolo... read more
Dr. Garg is the without a doubt the worst mental health care "professional" I have ever met. Not only are his wait times *extremely* long (a fact that he expects you to just accept, regardless of the fact that we all have busy schedules), but he was completely dismissive of certain symptoms I brought up in my initial evaluation. I have since found another psychologist who I am very happy working with. I would encourage you to look up his past and why he was fired from his last job.
