My doctor was great! She really helped me understand what happened to my eyesight.
She is outstanding- top 0.5% of doctors.
Dr. Vilar was rude and dismissive. She was a terrible listener. She asked a question and then interrupted before I could answer saying it didn't matter. She gave zero advice until I specifically asked. It was like pulling teeth to get her to answer any question, and then she was impatient and rude about it. She left in the middle of the visit saying she was 'going to get something'. She was gone more than 10 minutes and returned without anything. I waited more than 2 hours in the waiting room. I saw others waiting longer. He... read more
Five months into a TBI with visual issues and still cognitively challenged I saw Dr. Vilar. She performed what I would consider a very thorough examination and announced 'There is nothing wrong with your eyes'; I could stop doing eye exercises that P/T had recommended. She made a few comments to and asked questions of her student, otherwise little to no communication with me. I later felt very frustrated with the appt. as did my concussion Dr. There was clearly something going on with my vision. Fast forward another 4 months... read more
Dr. Vilar is the absolute best. I saw her in a critical time of need - I had a serious eye problem with no obvious cause threatening my vision. As a previously healthy person I was scared and had no idea what to do. She did the work of a top doctor and patient advocate. She relentlessly worked to get to the bottom of what was going on, often even accompanying me to biopsies or other specialists since my case was so complicated. She pushed for fast appointments for me across many specialists so we could get answers as fast as... read more
she is brilliant. she is up to date on current research in a wide range of areas. i know her decisions and conclusions are well thought out and all options carefully considered.
I had a great experience with Dr. Vilar for four years before I had to move from the area. She was very professional and willing to listen and teach. All of my eye issues were resolved in an efficient and effective manner. I miss her.
Absolutely no. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't recommend her to my enemies. She should not be practicing medicine.
Does not listen to patient. Does not read history provided by other doctors. Suggests unnecessary invasive procedure. Panics when she doesn't have an answer to treat a serious eye problem and insists on misdiagnosing it after it was properly diagnosed at Johns Hopkins by Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery.
