After several years of back pain, it was time to see an orthopedic surgeon. My pain mgmt doctor highly recommended Dr. Michael Burdi, and as such, I made an appt with him shortly thereafter. I am so grateful that I met Dr. Burdi. I was dreading surgery but after a year of trying acupuncture, chiropractic services, physical therapy, and spinal injections, I realized I was out of options. Just over 6 weeks after spine surgery with Dr. Burdi - nerve decompression, bone graft, single level fusion L-4 and L-5. Apprehensive about surgery but several years of pain management provided little but temporary relief. Experience with Dr. Burdi and surgery team and Spine Institute at Mission Viejo Hospital was outstanding. Surgery provided immediate relief from nerve pain. I had sciatica type pain, shooting down my left leg. Then my leg started going numb and tingly. I exhausted all other treatments, including PT, steroids, cortisone injections and epidurals. I am 6 weeks post-op from a fusion from L4-S1 with a disc replacement. I was able to schedule my surgery very quickly and returned to work after just two weeks! Cosmetically his incision is beautiful, everyone I’ve show it too is nothing but impressed with how amazing it looks.
