Dr Smith is a very caring, skilled neurosurgeon. He is thorough in reviewing the needs of his patients and advising using non-surgical treatment when possible. When the only option is surgery, he explains the pros and cons. I would recommend him to anyone needing spine or any neurological specialist!
Dr Smith is an unassuming and straightforward physician who listened thoughtfully to my concerns and moved remarkably fast to provide a remedy. I had compressed nerves at C5/C6 that were causing pain and numbness down my left arm. Dr Smith performed surgery to open the pathway for the nerve and the symptoms began to alleviate almost immediately. I highly recommend Dr Smith and the team.
Dr. Smith listened to what I said and didn't discount my narrative. He set reasonable expectations for my treatment, and I've already had some relief from my long-term pain.

Dr. Mark Smith is wonderful. My husband Tim was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2021. Dr. Smith took the time to explain all of the options available to us and answered all of our concerns with exceptional patience. He surgically removed the tumor on 3/15/22, with unbelievable success. Tim’s care after surgery was amazing and his recovery was outstanding. Consultation for neck spine stenosis repair.
I was cared for by this group while a patient at Atrium CMC. They carefully supervised my care before completing a necessary procedure. I was kept informed and treated with kindness the entire time. My follow-up appointment was given personal attention by the office staff . Mike McCormick, PA, was thorough and reassuring during that visit.
Back surgery 7/6/21. He was there for me for last minute surgery on a holiday week. He saved me from pain I couldn’t stand any longer! That’s what you call dedication!!
