My 11 year old is afraid of dentists because he had extensive surgery when he was younger, so we wanted to take him to a pediatric dentist who would be good with children. Dr. Younger got upset with him being afraid - he wasn't even being bad. When I tried to explain this was due to the past history, Dr. Younger said he should have gotten over it by now! Very upsetting to my son and me. We did not return after that.
Dr. Younger is a fantastic pediatric dentist. I have three children who see her. My son started seeing her at age 2. She has ALWAYS taken extra time to explain anything my children have questions or anxiety about and has made every procedure as relaxing and uneventful as possible. My son needed a little cavity cleaned up at age 3- he was afraid of the drill noise but she was very professional and understanding. She was comforting and gentle. He is actually looking forward to his next cleaning.
Dr. Younger was impatient and cold. She dismissed and berated my child for being upset during dental exam, due to past traumatic dental surgery. Expected more from a pediatric dentist. Not nurturing or sympathetic at all.
