I was a patient of Doctor Ott's two times in the mid 1990s, and although his demeanor is gruff, I know that I am alive and doing well now because of the skill and intelligence that he practices with me. I do not live in the San Diego area any more, but will always be thankful to Doctor Ott for his care for me so long ago now.
Terrible! Actually 0 stars!
I’d give a zero star if possible. He screwed up my nephews neck for life.
Dr Ott is not a man of many words, but does his talking with his expertise and skills as a neurosurgeon. I want to thank him for all he has done for me and wish him well in his retirement . THANK YOU DR. OTT
I was referred to see Dr. Ott for multiple neurological issues. He was distinctly unprofessional. His review of patient's history was sketchy at best, his physical examination consisted of 38 seconds of checking if the patient was able to feel a cold object placed on different areas of the body (that was all). He was interrupted in his review by his cell phone, which he answered. He offered no assistance whatsoever, nor made any helpful suggestions. Do not waste your time seeing him.
I was told that the pain and numbness radiating down my arm would resolve immediately after the surgery, that I'd be back to running one month after the surgery, and that the risk to my vocal cords was "so insignificant that I shouldn't be worried about it." None of that was true. Over a year later, I still have pain and numbness radiating down my arm, running is absolutely out of the question, and one of my vocal cords was paralyzed when Dr. Ott severed the laryngeal nerve during the surgery.
Horrible experience with this doctor. Terrible bedside manners. Would NEVER refer a friend/family member to this guy. And my scar on my lower back looks awful. Do yourself a favor an find a different doctor!
Dr. Ott performed a Bi-Lateral Laminectomy on me. Doctor didn't like patient asking questions, didn't get me physical therapy and nicked my C-4 which has severely made my life difficult. Dr. cut me lose at 5 weeks and cared less about ever seeing me or what his rgical expertise did to me.
I would never recommend Dr. Ott. The visit was a waste of time, was of no help. The lady at the front was very rude along with Dr. Ott's assistant. I have found help somewhere else and I am finally making progress with someone who knows and cares about patients. Other doctors at this facility are supposed to be good where he practices, be he is far from it.
