This review is long overdue, but after two major lumbar surgeries in 2009 and 2010 and continued pain after a year post-op recovery, I went to Dr. Aferzon after seeing a couple other doctors for second opinions. He was the only doctor to diagnose what my problem was, that being my facet joint(s). The surgeon who did my fusion never once suggested having an injection there, nor did a couple others. It was Dr. Aferzon who got it right! Thank you Dr. Aferzon!
Dr Aferzon preformed (2) spinal fusions on me. One in 2016 and the XLIF was in March 2017. My spinal cord (dura) was directly cut, "accidentally" when opening me from the front. They repaired it, but my room filled with doctors at 2am, asking me if I knew where I was. Every time they stood me up, my heart rate skyrocketed. Dr Aferzon has done all 13 surgeries on my mother's back and has gone to bat for her on multiple occasions. The ladies in the office are amazing , beautiful people as well. He is #1 neurosurgeon in CT and #3 in the whole country. One of the few doctors who actually cares about their patients on a case to case matter. Absolutely love this doctor. I'm happy with all he has done for me and my back, that has taken beating after beating from years of lifting, repositioning, and securing the safety of the patients I'm responsible for. I find him honest, forthcoming, and easy to talk to.
