Dr. Renkens has changed my life. He has performed a cervical fusion on C4-C5 and an anterior and posterior fusion on L4-L5. I could only walk for about 2-3 minutes and was in tremendous pain before surgery. On both surgeries, I woke up without the pain. There was, of course, surgical pain, that was nothing compared to the pain I had been experiencing. For me, it was like a miracle. I would recommend him to anyone. He has given me back my life and I will be forever grateful.
After my initial visit, my wife and I both commented on the drive home of how professional, and pleasant the staff was. We sought treatment for buldging disc and spoke with Dr. Vitto about relief. The explanantion of procedures to be used was exemplorary, and detailed to eliminate any concerns. This office truly displays dedication, reinforcement and terrific doctor/patient relationship. My injection procedure was pain-free and I'm anxious to see the benefits.
Although holistic pain management options had slightly helped my herniated disk I was still suffering from chronic pain. Then my doctor referred me to Dr. Vitto. I was very nervous about spine injections but he and his team put me at ease, answering my questions and exploring all options regarding lower back and nerve pain. Dr. Vitto has taken my pain level from a 10 to a 0. I highly recommend Dr. Vitto.

I was not prepared for what the procedure would entail, the amount of pain I would experience or any physician pre-procedure information,. I was required to have an MRI and saw the physician for two very short "consults" prior to the date of the injection. I yelled for him to stop after the first injection of numbing medication. He did not stop. I refused the second part of the procedure and left the office after my left foot regained feeling so I could stand and walk. Poor, poor service.
Excellent surgeon-2 spinal fusions (2013 & 2017). Love his staff too. However, I would NEVER return to Carmel St. Vincent hospital where my 2nd fusion was done. The first fusion was at West 86th Street St. Vincent- great experience.
I had suffered from excruciating back pain for months and was referred to Dr Renkens for surgery. He was highly recommended by my pain specialist. He and his entire team were very professional and made me feel at ease. As soon as I woke up the horrible pain I had suffered was gone. My recovery was quick without any complications. I would not hesitate to recommend him, his excellent assistant Jennifer Turner and a very supportive team to anyone with back problems. If needed, I would do it again.
Dr. Vitto is a great doctor. He has a positive, friendly attitude. It is obvious he enjoys helping people feel better.
