I have a variety of lower back problems, S1 nerve pinched, facet joint arthritis, various disc issues etc. Dr. Velez reviewed my MRI, it did seem quick however it would to us, who aren't experts in this area, however Dr. Velez was focusing on what among the extensive issues on the MRI report were causing me pain, lack of mobility. I liked his approach, and his approachability. I'm going ahead with an operation to relieve the pressure on the S1 nerve, hopefully get rid of sciatica and numb foot.

I have degenerative disc disease and had been managing my pain with anti-inflammatories for 2 years. I was done with the pain and decided to meet with Dr Velez. I decided to have the procedure and was glad I did. I had an Anterior Lumbar Interior Fusion for my L5-S1 discs and it was life changing. I stayed 3 days in the hospital - Emory JC. I woke up with no more back pain. The recovery was pretty easy - just incision pain. I highly recommend Dr. Velez and his staff!!

I waited an HOUR in the exam room. He yawned the entire time as though he were bored. Looked at my MRI's, did a quick assessment, gave me options of pain clinic, Surgery or do nothing. When I saw his very short report, it didn't include 1/2 of the symptoms and my concerns we verbally talked about. Pain, Leaning to one side, balance, inability to sit, stand, lift, walk for extended periods, etc. It only had medical codes & descriptions. His last comment was "come see me if you need surgery".

Dr. Valez correctly diagnosed my problem and had me paddle boarding six months after surgery.

I had a laminectomy in December 2016 due to spinal stenosis. Dr. Velez and the Resurgens staff were excellent throughout the entire process. We used Emory (Johns Creek) for the procedure and they were top notch. There was never any pressure to do the surgery - it was my call. I've recovered nicely after just a few months and I'd highly recommend him and those teams for back/spinal surgery.

I can't tell you how great this Surgeon is. If you're experiencing back pain, make an appt with him and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. He listens, offers options and treats you as an individual person. I was very surprised at how much he really and sincerely cares for his patients. I highly recommend him!!

I have suffered from back and leg pain for many years. I knew to get the relief I needed, I would ultimately require some kind of surgery, but I was scared. Dr Valez made me comfortable and after 14 years Dr Valez performed a lumbar laminectomy. I cannot say I am pain free but my pain has been reduced by at least 50 percent. PS: I had been under the care of another orthopedist for more than 10 years but he never gave me the confident feeling I had after my first visit with Dr Velez.
