I appreciate Dr. Vales taking time to discuss my diagnosis with me in layman terms and recommend treatment options to move me forward to living a pain free life, smile. Dr. V has cared for my spine for 12 years. He is the most caring surgeon I’ve ever met. He listens and he takes action! He will argue with insurance to make sure you are healed!! I trust him with my life. I hate to compare colleagues, but I have seen Dr Blanchard of RO as well when Dr Velez moved downtown. Never again!! He rushed, ignored my questions, and ignored Dr Belez previous findings. Dr Velez is so much more caring. Love this guy!
My chief complaint was dismissed without a reasonable explanation or a referral. Not just by Dr. Velez, but a pain mgmt doctor too. During a recent pre-op appt, I reported new alarming symptoms. He responded with a shrug, “It happens to some women” and “it has nothing to do with your spine”. A few days later I ended up in St.Joseph’s ER with the same, but now worsening symptoms. Dr Jason Velez performed my cervical spinal fusion surgery. He is amazing. His bedside manner is the best. Never once, during my numerous appts with him, did he EVER rush to go to next patient. He took his time, answered ALL my questions and made sure I understood everything. He is patient, kind and understanding.
I've only good things to say about Dr. Velez. I first went to see him after 18 months of physio, chiropractor sessions and a hip replacement, and after talking to 3 other surgeons. He's very approachable, listens and explains very clearly. I'm very technically minded and therefore had many many questions regarding my spine issues, Dr. Velez understood me and it was obvious he actually cared.. I have seen Dr. Velez a few times over the last 5 years including once for major spine surgery. I appreciate his professionalism and ability to put me at ease. He’s caring and patient. I highly recommend him to anyone with spine issues.
I was in a car wreck rusulting in neck and back injuries. Dr. Velez first authorized me for Short Term Disability for 6 months. After a few weeks of physical therapy with no improvement, Dr. Velez canceled my STD without even discussing it with me at all. Now I have to return to work with terrible neck and back pain with no explanation whatsoever, and unable to complete the physical therapy sessions he prescribed.
Dr. Velez performed a discectomy operation on my lower back. I had a herniated disc that was causing severe back pain and sciatica. Dr. Velez explained the entire process from pre-op, thru surgery and extended recovery to me in a way that allowed me to trust him; simply because the process has gone as he said it would; no surprises. I received immediate pain relief with my back but the sciatica was a longer process. Nine months later, 100% of the back pain is gone and 90% of the sciatica has dissipated (almost there).
