I moved to Ann Arbor for Mr. Malinoff's treatment. After years of illness and injury and over perscribed drugs I sought him out. He is worth millions - but you must be serious. Drug free and pain free over one year. Thank you Dr. Malinoff!
appointment was cancelled twice at the last moment- once when i was actually walking out the door to leave. did not read any of the medical reports on my condition sent to him. totally unprepared. just the most BIZARRE medical app i ever had.
My experience with Malinoff is mixed. When I made my first appointment I was told by the receptionist that I would need a physical (typical requirement for any doctor seeing a new patient). However, once I got there I immediately told him I was gay and asked if he had a problem with that. I said that if he did, that was fine, that I'd find a different doctor. He said he had no problem. Dr Malinoff is quite brisk, and even at times arrogant, but if you need help for addiction or for the treatment of pain without the use of heavy narcotics, Herb is the guy to go to. If you are putting in the effort, he will do everything he can for you. He is very dedicated to his patients.
Totally unwilling to listen or to be flexible or responsive to me as a person. Cold, brusk, insensitive, and not helpful.
Dr. Malinoff extremely passionate about his specialty and the patients he treats. I am extremely grateful for everything he has done for me and continues to do. I highly recommend Dr. Malinoff for anyone who may be struggling with opiate addiction and wants someone to give tools for recovery. I will have two years sobriety in a couple of months and he is part of the reason why!
As to the negative comment, Yes he is brisk and won't be a bleeding heart guy. If that's what you THINK you need, go to someone else. If you want someone who knows what they're doing, does care and has a phenomenal success rate at treating addicts (medically, emotionally and educationally) and helping people with chronic pain (without prescribing opiates) then Herb's your man. Part of what makes him a success is that he is a recovering addict himself. Nothing you can tell him he hasn't gone through himself.
