My experience with Dr. Gene Z. Chiao is always beyond my belief. For many years I did my colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures only with him and his highly professional staff. He is so accurate, neat, attentive to details, consistent, thorough, high standards, follows procedures and always makes sure that I am provided with all the details prior, during and post procedures. Dr. Chiao is a kind and caring doctor! He listens, answers questions and provides answers that are understandable. His wonderful follow up is something missing in many of the doctors. today
I was scheduled with another doctor, who called out sick the night before the procedure. Dr. Chiao squeezed me in to cover my endoscopy and colonoscopy so I wouldn’t have to prep a second time. He and the team were all incredibly friendly and warm. I was nervous about the procedures and being in such a vulnerable state, but meeting Dr. Chiao for even a brief time helped reduce any anxieties because of his welcoming demeanor. Dr Chiao was thorough with care and followup. My concern is with the quality of care at Highland Park Hospital GI center. Anesthesia was administered by a nurse anesthetist (I believe but am not sure). I was not told this prior to the procedure even by the anesthesiologist who spoke with me. The care I received was fragmented and confusing. There were approximately eight people involved in my care for this brief encounter.
