Dr. Erum Shahab runs a tight ship at Ellington Behavioral Health. This is, of course, a good thing for recovering addicts--a large population of her patient base--who require structure in their recovery. As is the case with many healthcare practices, any faults in the otherwise smooth, regimented operation is the result of those on the administrative side of things. If a patient requires special attention they should persistent and on top of it, without being unruly, and all needs should be met.

Terrible doctor, terrible practice. She likes her suboxone patients because sadly addicts have come to expect sub-par, condescending treatment, which I’ve seen from many mental health providers. But hey, it’s paying her bills, right? I’m not an addict and went there for a different reason - all this practice did was open my eyes more to the terrible treatment addicts receive - because she treats everyone with the same unprofessional disdain. She’s truly a disgrace to the medical community.

I would never recommend this practitioner. The office confirmed the appointment the night before and then cancelled within 3 hours of the appointment. By the time my daughter got the cancellation message she was in their parking lot so decided to go in to reschedule. Dr. Shahab was there but “Sick” the afternoon before Thanksgiving. Practices usually charge clientsfor cancellations if less than 24 hr. your notice. Where is the professionalism here!

I like Dr Shahab on a personal level, she’s personable, & pleasant, she takes enough time during the visit & I never feel rushed. However as a Dr., almost monthly, she lets my meds run out by an day or two & I have to go without that’s not right. I get them because I need them, especially to work.

Best Pediatric/Young adult psychiatrist I've ever known (out of 6). She treats my child as if they were her own. Been w/ her for over 10yrs. She has changed my child's life around & we are so happy to have her in our lives. Very knowledgeable & up to date Caring and understanding Took it into her own hands (w/ our permission) to make sure the school system worked together to help my child & to stop the bullying from other kids.

Dr. Shahab has been my doctor for over two years. She has done an excellent job balancing my medication and assigning groups needed to maintain my sobriety. She is almost always available to answer questions that may arise during the week. She is caring understanding and considerate of my needs. If you're looking for a doctor who will meet all needs of addiction then look no further. She also has a fully staffed office who are always pleasant and helpful. Sincerely WSC

I went in her office seeking help for my opiate addiction. At first everything was great, I got my suboxone prescription and was scheduled for my first group meetings. The nurse gave me a sheet with 2 dates highlighted,I assumed those were my group dates. I just received a call saying I'm out of the program for missing group. I tried to explain it was a misunderstanding but no one seemed to care, even after me crying saying I needed and wanted help. She doesn't care about her patients only money
