Very satisfied! I changed from Dr. Antonovich (whom I do not recommend) at Trident to Dr. Tavel. Dr. Tavel helped me more in one visit than Trident did in several. He listened intently and gave his expert advice as to what might the treatments be once all the MRI results were in. He was very kind to me and my family and took me seriously about my pain issues and resulting depression, even informing me that his office has therapy options as well. I felt listened to and that he took me seriously. He relieved a great deal of ap... read more

If possible the rating would be negative stars. Dr Tavel never physically assessed me. Failed to take into account long term existing condition. Did not listen to actual cause of condition requiring treatment Prescribed totally inappropriate treatment Could not get my name correct on the tablet prescription. Medical notes incorrectly and inaccurately completed Only interested in ticking boxes and favoring the insurance company to close the case as quickly as possible. Administration staff, and particularly the practice manag... read more

I’m completely satisfied with Dr. Tavel. He has helped me so much with pain due to my scoliosis. Everyone here is very nice and they always help me with my pain. I totally trust Dr. Tavel’s treatment plan for me.

There are 2 basic items here. 1) Dr. Tavel seems to be at least interested, but as many reviews have said, it's more like a production line office...in and out. He clearly understands what he's talking about, but I could see people being offended by him. However, in the year I went there, I only saw him a total of 1 time. Well, twice if you count the pointless shot in my back that I knew wouldn't work. Plus, they REALLY push some device to put in your back...I mean like this is the only thing that'll help. 2) Rip off - After... read more

Having been a patient for chronic pain, I know the desperation and frustration that anyone living a life which can make one contemplate death as the only resolution to the pain itself, AND the humiliation and shame patients feel when the doctors disbelieve, condescend, misdiagnose and treat them like drug seeking criminals. The "hypocritical" oath becomes "First, do not believe...", and driving home in tears becomes the norm. Reading all the rebuttals from this practitioner makes me feel sorry for Erica. I hope she has reall... read more

They basically told me there was nothing they could do to help me with my pain that I haven’t tried already. There has to b something that can help me because being n this amount of pain is no walk n the park. Very disappointed!

I can say the people were nice. That’s about all I can say. They have stupid office policies that prevent them from treating my chronic pain. If you have a chronic condition I would say go somewhere else. I didn’t want to have to find another pain doctor but they left me no choice.

Business response:

William- thank you for your feedback. As a pain practice, these regulations are mandated by the state of South Carolina. It is always our goal to provide the most effective care possible in a safe environment and we are willing to work with our patients on an individual basis to determine their best course of treatment. We apologize if you did not feel this was the case and would be happy to discuss the issue further with you- please call our office and ask for Erica.

Dr. Tavel is a fat-cat doctor getting rich off of peoples pain. It's like assembly line production at Pain Specialists of Charleston. Extremely painful SI injections that did not help at all. Follow up visit, was given a Tens Unit to use, when i went in for a bone spur. I suggest you find someone else. He's only interested in making money quickly.

Business response:

I am sorry to hear of your negative experience with our office. Our goal, first and foremost, is to always provide high-quality and effective care to out patients. That said, we respect that not all patients agree with physician treatment plans and hope that you find another provider that can meet your needs. We wish you well.

Friendly and professional staff. Was hesitant to agree to see a "pain management" doctor but glad that I did. Physician treated me with back injections and some courses of physical therapy. I'm back to 100% and didn't take a single medication. Definitely recommend.

Business response:

Thank you for the kind review, we always enjoy sharing in our patients successful relief. We wish you continued good health!
