2 hours late for my appointment, couldn't or wouldn't answer a question, and for someone who's been physically and emotionally abused since the age of 10, his empathy and bedside manner left MUCH to be desired. I have no desire to see this man ever again.

I was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer in 2013. Dr. Berger is the surgeon on my MGH medical team. He explained my lengthy treatment plan with expertise, kindness and, above all, hope. I have had 4 surgeries, all successful and without complication. My family and I find his bedside manner to be compassionate and caring. I am thankful he is on my team.

Dr. Berger diagnosed and fixed my hernia quickly and with precision. Minimal scarring. Great experience.

I am just getting around to writing this review. I had my inguinal hernia repaired by Dr. Berger in 2014 at Mass General Hospital. I did a lot of research before choosing him. He is the energetic, confident type and is ready to rock n'roll on what ails you. I know some don't like that style. I like it. I don't even care about a surgeon's personality anyway. My main concern was that he excelled at the surgery I needed. And he does. His work for the Boston pro sports teams alone helps to prove that point. While others I know a... read more

When I was referred to him, Dr. Berger rushed through my surgical consultation and absolutely refused to answer a single one of my questions, pretty much pushing me out the door. When concerns about my complicated case arose later (as he never game me a chance to discuss them), my operation was promptly cancelled. I was told to follow up in his office, to reschedule it, but every appointment I made was cancelled at the last minute (by his receptionist). He would not even respond to calls from other doctors. Unprofessional, r... read more

This guy saved my husband from being butchered at another facility. We just recently had a second surgery with him and all went extremely well. Love him and his staff.

Dr. Berger performed surgery on my husband a couple of years ago when no other surgeon would consider it do to his heart condition. He saved his life due to a abscess in his colon which had gone undetected even though he had multiple scans due to severe diverticulitis. My husband did end up with a colostomy ,which was unexpected but Dr. Berger made this decision knowing that if he didn't and my husband had any problems with healing it could be life threatening. My husband did have some issues, so the correct decision was mad... read more

I had surgery two years ago by Dr. Berger with great success. Today, I had an appointment due to some pain I was having. Dr. Berger examined me thoroughly and made me feel very comfortable. I rate him as a top surgeon with a great patient regard. I highly recommend him.

I was found to have a malignant polyp by colonoscopy.I needed a left hemicolectomy,so wanting the best I went to Dr. David Berger at MGH.He or one of his fellows managed to devascularize too much of my bowel and left me with an ischemic colitis and a partial bowel obstruction. As a retired neurosurgeun I managed to get myself admitted to Tufts medical Center where a very competent colorectal surgeon (Dr.Melnitchouk)repaired the botched up surgery with a second operation. She literally saved my life.I'm sure that if I had staye... read more
