My favourite ophthalmologist that i’ve been treated by! I saw Dr. McAlister for 5 years, probably 6 times a year for uveitis treatment and had cataract surgery done by her as well. She’s a very understanding doctor and always listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. She performed the cataract surgery very well and I had a speedy recovery. Dr McAllister is a calm, caring and knowledgeable ophthalmologist. She takes time to explain things, answers questions and listens to concerns. I never feel rushed. I feel completely confident in her care and I would highly recommend her.
I was very disappointed in Dr. McAllister's behaviour at my son's most recent appointment. My son is 4 years old and has strabismus (lazy eye) in both eyes. This is causing him to suppress the vision in one of his eyes, for which Dr. McAllister recommended surgery to correct. At our follow up appointment, I mentioned to her that we were also seeing a vision therapist. As soon as I said those two words, her demeanor immediately changed from friendly to hostile. I was referred to Dr. McAlister by the University of Waterloo Optometry Clinic to follow up on a couple of minor concerns the University clinicians found. The office was absolutely buzzing with activity - very busy; but the staff was very friendly and very efficient. Dr. McAlister was very professional, knowledgeable, and competent.
