After my medi-port was installed by Dr. Walter,Virginia Surgery Associates (VSA) and my first Chemotherapy was scheduled, treatment was fine. There was a disconnect between Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS) and VSA which wasted time. Almost 100% of the time you can never reach anyone when returning a phone call to VCS and when so, it takes up to 5 minutes to get connected. Overall, I am very pleased with Dr. Dar's diagnosis and treatment recommendations when I have treatment or a visit.

After 5 years or more of treatment in coordination with other specialists around the country, my husband received a phone call from Dr. Dar’s office saying he needed to “choose” a treatment provider. Multiple phone calls from him, Georgetown and Sloan Kettering specialists. No response. He is transfusion dependent and had serious anemia. This is a traumatic experience for a critically ill patient. As a medical provider, I can tell you this is a serious breach of ethics. Egregious malfeasance!

Dr dar and his wonderful staff was always there for me. I had seen dr dar for some trouble with my blood 6 months later I had breast cancer. He is one of the best dr around explained step by step what the next year was going to be for me. How many Dr calls you to check on you after your breast surgery he did. Him and the staff were the best. I moved to another state and I can tell you won't find another oncology Dr like him anywhere.

When I was searching for a hematologist closer to my house, I was really scared. I didn't know what was wrong with me, and most of the offices I contacted did not make me comfortable about using their services. The front office of Dr. Dar's practice put me immediately at ease, and I booked an appointment immediately. Dr. Dar also put me at ease, quickly arrived at my diagnosis of multiple myeloma, and began an effective treatment. He is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and very caring.

Dr. Dar's office was the most insensitive I have ever seen. I went in for a blood test, and right away they asked me if I had a will and directed me to fill out information about next of kin. They said it was just their policy. I worried for two weeks, until my tests came back normal. Their policies are wrong, unethical, and inconsiderate to patients. They need to be changed. I will not return to this office.

Dr. Dar has been my mom's Oncologist for 5 years. My mom is a 2 time cancer survivor, both cases caught in aggressive stages. Because of my mom's treatment, she's had to try experimental therapies and work with a plethora of specialists; this has given me perspective and the juxtaposition I need to give an educated review. Finished chemo for HER2+ advance stage 3 breast cancer with another doc. Transferred to Dar after not being informed of high bp, etc. Dar argued with me about getting any testing, didn't know what kind of cancer I had after 3 visits, and (office policy) wouldn't call for a pre-authorization like other docs. Wouldn't do a peer to peer to get PET scans with insur after they denied me cause Dar only wrote a scan for neck to pelvic area. HER2+ comes back in the BRAIN! Seeing another doc with sense!!
