Cured ear infections I have a shar pei that goes without saying has ear problems as many shar peis are born with small ear canals and ears that allow little air to circulate. He had cronic ear infections. I was constantly at the vet. My vet tried so many antibiotics and did finally cure him only to have an infection with in a few weeks. I tried Dr. Spahn. Unsatisfied does not even begin to describe it... The quality of care that my pet received at Down Maine actually brought me to tears. The "simple" surgery that was performed can only be described as hack job. Upon arriving home and getting to inspect my pet I saw that the wounds were actually completely open and bleeding excessively. The incisions were sloppy to say the least and the closures were inadequate. This obviously involved a trip back to the vet for a touch up to the surgery. Very great place I take my pets to DMVC, and I'm very happy with Dr. Spahn. I think he is a very caring and compassanate person and one of the best. But I didn't always think this of this clinic. Years ago I lost a pet at the clinic and I felt that it could have been prevented, so I changed vets and now I'm back there and I am very happy with the care my pet gets. But we must remember that these vets are people just like you and I and they can make mistakes and errors, unfortunately it was not alway easy for me to look at it... read more
Poor Quality Care This vet, I would call one of the worst vets I have ever been to, and I am a breeder I have been to a lot of vets. The facilities were fair-poor, and the vets were not supportive to say the least. I would not recommend this vet to anyone for anything!!!
Puppy died I have been taking my pets to Down Maine Vet for several years but had never felt comfortable with them. My 8 month old puppy was diagnosed with a salivary gland infection and placed on antibiotics. After a few weeks he continued to worsen and we became very concerned. My husband and I felt the Vet was not listening to us and we knew there was something wrong. Dowm Maine Vets Down Maine Vets have been good to me and my animals for over 30 years. Dr. Spahn is one of the best. He is good at diagnosing and is kind. Their prices are about the same as other vets in the area. They are on call 24/7 for their customers.
RecommendedThey were kind and understanding, completely compassionate when we had to have our 15 year old dog put down. Thoughtful and understanding and so nice to our other dog! Highly recommend!!
I was recommended to give them a try from my brother, he has 3 pups: 💙Ollie • a French Puggle 💜Lexi • Corgi 💛 Luna • a “Pocket Pitt” (the cutest little Pitt Bull). They helped him with one of his pups issues that his current Vet wouldn’t. So we had our first visit last week. My husband & I was exceptionally pleased with Doc, Staff, Very pleasant office (not a negative vibe anywhere), I could go on & on.....Definitely recommend this office, very pleased I was told to give them a try. We recommend 110%
